Description | This sash is handmade on a loom using alpaca wool. It is based on the colours of the Métis flag. According to records, the red flag was given to Cuthbert Grant by the North West Company in 1815. It was subsequently used at the Battle of Seven Oaks in 1816. It is also the oldest Canadian designed flag still in use. The blue flag was flown as early as 1816. It was accepted in 1970 by the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples as the official flag of the Métis Nation. Cette ceinture fléchée est faite à la main sur un métier |
